Question: Are there certain triggers than cause a mood swing or episode in someone who is bipolar.?
Answers:
Stress, Feeling slighted or put down, Being hungry, Not feeling like you're getting what you need emotionally from others. Feeling disrespected (even if it's just in your mind), PMS (if you're a woman), feeling ignored. Lots of triggers. A bipolar person needs to take their meds regularly, drink 6-8 glasses of water per day, take a multivitamin AND 2-3 capsules of fish oil per day (fish oil is very important in mental health) along with daily walking to keep on a more even keel. Good luck. Health Question & Answer
I've been bipolar for 15 years, so I don't know much. Nothing seems to affect a mood cycle much. Lack of sleep can cause a mania. People putting me down, bad grades, no money, lost a friend - all these things affect NORMAL moods. Bipolar moods are caused by brain chemical malfunction, not outside stimulation. I can be fine one day and totally, suicidally depressed the next. And the moods don't just last a day or 2. At least a week- often a month.
I wish everyone would quit thinking they're bipolar because they have a little mood swing. It's much worse than that. Much.Health Question & Answer
