Hi Wutz, Indeed it does slow down your metabolism. I myself have been dealing with this for most of this year. You'll have a lack of motivation, so less activity will in most people cause them to gain. Others like Iansbabe, may not have the desire to even eat anything. What is strange is if we're exercising and eating rite, it seems we should be able to at least maintain our weight. This shows that it does affect in many different ways. I've been trying to maintain, without seeing a Dr or meds! It's not easy though!

talk to your doctor and you may see how depression affects your whole well being and all that is around you. and for your last .?
if a person is suffering from depression, they would have no desire to exercise nor would they have to will power to eat senable. you must talk to your doctor.

When I went through a period of depression, it had the opposite affect on me. I lost tons of weight and was even sickly looking. I got down to like 100 lbs and my bones were sticking out. yes that is true, why taking medications, where you are living if you are isolated, at this time of year, this soars and people become depressed
