Question: Do all antidepressants make you gain weight.?
I've heard that before. I'm going to a shrink on campus on Monday, just wanna know the deal with that before I agree to anything. i've been in the gym quite a bit lately and don't wanna set myself back. I'm open to only talk therapy if thats the case.Health Question & Answer

I was on them for a while and I found that it had increased my appetite and so I had gained weight-
however for me this was not a bad thing as before being on them I'd had no appetite at all.
I suggest asking them about it, but I don't think that you necessarily will be forced to take anti-depressants. And it might not even be the best choice for you. There's lots of things that can help apart from medication - going to the gym might even be helping you.
I'd still go, I don't think all anti depressants have that side effect and even if the ones have that side effect it won't necessarily effect you like that.

No, some can even cause weight loss. Anti psychotics are known for causing weight gain though.Health Question & Answer
