My father was recently in the hospital for 8 days; his care was exceptional, not just by the nurses, but by the aides, food service, transport and a student that shaved him. How could I not send a card. I wrote a short leter including all that were a part of his care. Absolutely, if you feel a thanks is appreciated, by all means- write a quick note of 'Job well done- thanks."Health Question & Answer
MOST nurses have hearts of gold and work their butts off and I imagine a thank-you note would be very much appreciated. As you can see by SOME replies, we patients mean nothing to some nurses and we are forgotten the minute we leave...
I prefer to believe that would be a minority speaking, for surely everyone would appreciate a genuine, warm "thank you" and an "atta girl" or "atta boy" for treating someone kindly while they were at their most vulnerable.
Perhaps if such a genuine thank-you means so little to a nurse, it might be time for he or she to consider transferring to another section of the hospital....I hear the patients in the morgue don't ring too many call buttons!Health Question & Answer

I am a nurse and I can honestly tell you "not really". We are so busy with so many people with needs and a million things to remember that they all just blend together and we even forget your names the minute you leave the hospital.Health Question & Answer
