Will Benedryl make the skin crawl itchy feeling I get go away?!

Question: I am taking Lortab for an extremly painful dental problem.

Answer:
The itch in your skin is caused by something in you cells called histones. When you scratch them, it releases MORE, causing even more itch and so on.

Benadryl is an antihistomine, or anti-histone, causing those pesky histones to stop bothering you. If your skin is itchy, try a hot bath with a bunch of baking soda in it. It'll detox your skin, relax you, and actually change your bodily pH levels.
If the prescription id from the dentist, give him a ring and check that its OK to take benadryl, it can interact with some drugs. he may suggest a safe alternative if benadryl isn't OK
