it happened to me when i was crying.. every few seconds i kept drawing for breath. it didnt happen to me before when i cried, just tears poured down my face.Health Question & Answer

I cried and gasped so hard as a tot that I fainted lol. That's a really good question. I think when we're crying, we're breathing out, letting air out as we're sobbing, whatever. Then we get to the point without even realizing it that we haven't taken a breath in a while, and we gasp.

When we cry, sometimes mucus are secreted from our nose and we breathe through the mouth. We take out a lot of air as we cry that our body sometimes lacks oxygen so we tend to gasp.Health Question & Answer
When you're crying a lot, it makes your breathing harder, so gasping is just really trying to breathe again and also calm down :) I have no scientific answers though, lol.Health Question & Answer
