Bruising very easily may mean you have a blood disorder like a low platelet count or a deficiency of a clotting factor. Many of these disorders are genetic. Potassium has nothing to do with it at all. However, adding more vitamin K to your diet may help to prevent bruising. This vitamin is abundant in green, leafy vegetables.
If you bruise very easily and bleed excessively from small wounds, you should see a hematologist, a doctor who specializes in blood disorders. He can run blood tests to see if you have something wrong with you.
Certain medications cause the blood to be a bit too thin. Avoid taking aspirin or even ibuprofen; use Tylenol for minor aches and pains.
Some people just bruise a little more easily than others and it's especially noticable if you have pale skin. My best friend is like that.
To get ready for Halloween, apply a heating pad to the bruised areas; the increased blood flow from the heat (not too hot!) should help them heal more quickly. If this doesn't work well enough, wear body makeup and/or hose to disguise them. Health Question & Answer
