Question: Is my birth control still working.?
I take Loestrin birth control pills, and i have 4 brown pills in the monthly packet. that's when I'm supposed to have my period. I started having my period today, but I'm not supposed to for 2 weeks! I fingered myself last night and wondered if that had anything to do with it. This happened one other time...i started bleeding while my boyfriend was fingering me, and I had my period for a few days when I wasn't supposed to. Then I had it again 2 weeks later when I was taking the brown pills. Why does my body do this.? Is my birth control not working.?Health Question & Answer

It's not that the pill is ineffective, it's that you're experiencing mid-cycle breakthrough bleeding. If you've only recently started taking this formulation it's pretty common until your body adjusts; if it's been a while since you started, you may need to try a different type of pill (such as Losetrin 1.5/30).
It has nothing to do with fingering or masturbation; it just so happens that your explorations happened to coincide with your breakthrough bleeding episodes.
