There's nothing you can do to make it wear off quicker. it will just take time. usually 2-3 hours after you leave the dental office. Next time you have dental work, ask your dentist if he or she thinks it will be ok to use an anthestetic without epinepherine.. they do not numb you as long.

Other Answers:
It can take 30 minutes to 2 hours. Do not eat anything or you may bite your tongue or cheek. Try exercising (very light though) to work it out of your system.
Once the dentist gave me too much novocaine and it took six hrs to wear off. I called to complain after about 3hrs of a numb face and the said the only thing that works is time. :(
I wish I had the answer to this one. I had two wisdom teeth pulled and was given Novocain and it took four hours to wear off. Today I had to get four fillings and that was at 11 am today and it's now 2 hours later and my bottom part of face is still numb and feels like it's getting number. I don't think there's really anything you can do to get it out of your system any faster than just waiting till it goes away.

I have been a dental hygienist for 20 years and administer local anesthesia. We actually do not use "Novocaine" anymore. We use amide anesthetics such as Lidocaine. If you want the anesthetic to wear off more rapidly then ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine.Epinephrine is a vasoconstrictor that allows a deeper, longer lasting anesthetic. We must use Lidocaine with epi. for longer procedures such as root canals or multiple extractions so you will not feel the procedure. But if you are just getting a simple filling a non epi. anesthetic such as 3% mepivacaine without epinephrine will be just fine.Just ask for no epinephrine if possible.
