i like to go out with friends and have a few cocktails, it is no fun to drink water at the bar. and all of my friends like to go out to clubs and bars. what is a girl trying to get in better shape to do?

most hard liquor (vodka, rum, etc.) have very few calories besides the alcohol itself, as long as you mix it with other things with very few calories - diet soda, seltezer, tonic, there are few calories. fruit juice tends to have lots of sugar so stay away from that if you are super worried or if ur going to drink alot. note that the alchohol itself has a pretty good amount of calories, so for the sake of your weight and your brain keep it to less than 4 drinks or so.

Anything malted is fattening. This includes beers, malt liquor and wine coolers. Liquors don't have enough calories to effect your diet much. The only thing you might want to watch are the mixers. The juices and grenadine and such have alot of sugar. Learn to like a martini or long island ice tea and you'll be just fine. Always be responsible and don't over do it though.

Well, the best way to lose weight is not to drink at all. But if you're going to drink, here are some recommendations:

1. Stay away from wine and beer. They are both high in sugar and calories, and you tend to drink more of these than others.

2. Use club soda as a mixer. Club soda has no calories, so if you mix vodka or scotch etc. with club soda, you'll only get the calories from the alcohol. The club soda also "stretches out" the drink, so you wind up drinking fewer drinks total.

3. No hard liquor is more or less caloric than the other. Whiskey, vodka, rum, tequila, and gin are generally pretty much the same. So choose the one that you like and drink it slowly.
