Does anyone know a good detox diet ?!

I have tried and tested loads of detox diets and can hopefully offer you some help!

Here are my suggestions:

Steer WELL clear of any detox diet that proposes that you consume just ONE type of food or drink for days on end i.e. the lemonaide detox or the one I have seen mentioned here a few times: just drink only water for five days. I cannot express the damage that starving your body of nutrients like this will do to your body.

This type of detox will also slow your metabolism right down, meaning that after the detox your body will try to store as much fat as possible and you will gain lots of weight.

There are two great detox plans that I like to use and they are both very similar:

The first is the Dr. Gillian McKeith approach, which focusses on whole foods, largely raw and vegetarian (with some fish and chicken) and aims to give your body an abundance of a variety of nutrients. The plan is supposed to last a lifetime, but 21 days following this plan will give you unbelievable results!

The second is a slightly harder to follow, but shorter detox, known as the alkaline cleanse. This is a five to seven day cleanse detox which involves eating raw, alkalising soups and vegetable juices - whilst supplementing your diet with omega oils, 'green drinks' (wheatgrass), vitamins and minerals.

Both of these are worth looking into - even if you take a bit from each and do your own!
