I also have an under active thyroid and had a really hard time losing weight. I went to my doctor and she sent me to see a nutritionist. Now I eat 6 small meals a day. I've cut out sugars and fats. I eat rice, potatoes, breads, chicken and fish, lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. I also drink alot of water. I also go to a water aerobics class 3 times a week. I've lost 45 pounds since the 7th of January. It's slow, but it works. Good luck.

You need to get sum kinda perscription from the doctor!! To boost that up, and or maybe change your diet and try to get motivated to work out an stuff!

I do to.started loosing weight right after I started taking my perscription.ask your dr for it..it is a synthetic thyroid called "Armour".it will make you feel a million times better to.and your face will not look swollen.you will be beautiful in no time flat.

hypothyroidy is easily treated. The doctor can do a few test to see exactly what you need and at what dose. Easy as pie. Oops! no pie.

You should ask your Doctor to take a blood sample and check your T3/T4 level. If it's low, he might prescribe a daily dose of thyroxine (e.g. Eltroxin) to help.

Even people with an underactive thyroid can lose weight if they exercise. Thyroid meds may help speed up your metabolism, but exercise will definitely help. Make a resolution to take a walk EVERY day. Start slow, stretch your muscles before and after walking, and don't let ANYTHING come between you and your walk. If you push yourself to walk a little further and a little faster everyday, you'll surprise yourself how fast your body begins to respond. Been there.

My mum has an Underactive Thyroid and since she has had it she has gained 3 stone. So far this year she has lost 10pound, its slow progress and shes finding it hard but Her solution is to really look at what your eating. She has had to cut out alot including all luxuries such as crisp, biscuits, cakes, buns, brea. sweets and chocolate. She eats little and often.
