If you have eyes they should be checked. Not necessarily because of sight, but a thorough exam will check the eyes for pathologies, even if they arent functional.
Just because you are blind, doesnt mean you cannot get cancer of the eye.
There are many reasons for blindness and people are usually diagnosed as visually impaired now. Doctors see these babies and assess the cause and see if there are appropirate aides so some vision is obtainable.
