Big Red Tonsils- I want out!?

Question:
I have bad allergies, and I take my allegy medicine every day. This helps my throat tons. Unfortunatly though, my tonsils are almost touching (about 1/2cm away) and they hurt like crazy. This is not the first time this has happened. I have also gotten strep about 6 times before- about once a year. My tonsils are always large, but now are very very large and painful. This has happened before. I know it is not due to allergies- I asked a doctor friend (not an ENT, just a family friend who is an MD for adults). She said I should get them out, but my pediatrician said I should wait another 4 or 5 months. She said if I went to an ENT, they would take them out due to the constant swelling and redness. Don't you think that the ENT might make a better descision than the CMD? I'm not sure- all I know is that I want these things out. They are a constant problem.

Answer:
Go to the ent honey!!! I had the same problem when i was young and they took my tonsils out and i haven't had a throat problem since. although its painful for a few days its all very worth it in the end. go see the ENT and i wish you the best of luck
Definitely make an appointment for the ENT. They are much more specialized in this area of the body. I can't blame you for wanting them out if they are a constant hassle. You will feel so much better once they are removed. Best of luck to you.
You're always allowed to get second or third, opinions.

Or more. And someone will agree with what YOU want to do.

Do what you want, and take your risks. You can't get someone else to take the risks for you.

Just be informed.
Your story is so similar to my own ....I feel badly for you.The best thing I ever did was finally get my humongous tonsils whipped out, and I can honestly tell you, I haven't looked back since.

Go beyond CMD's advice, I did. Your the one in this constant pain. Its not going to get any better if you don't get them removed I'm afraid...(and I tried everything to fix it)

Best of luck!
Yes, an ENT is a specialist who has received specific education, training, not to mention the hours of experience, in this field. I would definitely get those tonsils out, but in the process, ask your ENT about a new procedure they are using involving a laser, which is not as invasive and requires less "down" time. A typical surgery can take up to 2 weeks recovery time, while the laser technique I saw on the news had people out and about their normal routine within hours. Good luck!
Try out some home remedies. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html...
