feel like food in chest after meal?

Question:
after eating it feels like the meal is trapped in my chest, very uncomfortable

Answer:
Sounds like indegestion and heartburn....and sometimes you can get sharp pain in your back......you might also have GERD or acid reflux..you should get it checked out.....it could save your life
Idigestion! try eating slower, smaller bites and drink plenty of fluids during eating.
you are seriously constipated.
first, make sure u chew ur food well.. then make sure u drink water occcassionally while eating, and after eating. then try to just be on ur feet for at least 15 minutes.. so that way ur food goes down well... also prevent stomach rolls.. try it, it works.. if not, try taking tums...
You're not just eating too much are you? I like to drink water while I'm eating but have been told this is not a good idea. I don't remember why and I still do it.
This sounds a little like something I deal with; I have a faulty "valve" (sorry I don't know the correct term) at the top of my stomach. Sometimes after I eat, food can move back up into the esophagus. Since it's also accompanied by stomach acid, over time, it has left some scarring, and that in turn has caused the esophagus to spasm from time to time. While I don't know if this is the same thing, I HAVE found that certain foods tend to trigger it - usually things that are charcoal-broiled, as well as some oddball things like popcorn, and bananas.

I've found that taking a GERD medication like Prilosec on a regular basis helps. When all else fails, I have a script for diazepam that I can take, but I try to avoid it. The best prevention I have found is to eat slowly, drinking plenty of liquid (iced tea in particular seems to help, for some reason), and to avoid swallowing air.

If those things don't help, I suggest contacting your doctor. I know from talking with my own doctor as well as a gastroenterologist that the problem I have isn't all that uncommon, and I know from personal experience that it can HURT. Good luck.
