Can vegetarians lose their hair because thier not eating meat?

Question:

Answer:
I've read all of the posts and I just don't think it's that simple. I have LOTS of vegetarian friends and they don't appear to be losing their hair.

Conversley, I know many people losing their hair who DO eat meat.

I think it should be asked of people who really are losing their hair, or really are vegetarians, not just guesses or speculations.

My former boss's hair is thinning but she's going through the change. Her husband has hair down to his waist. They're both vegetarians.
not nesary
No that does not cause you to lose your hair.
Vegetarians have tons of health problems
you can loose your hair if you are lacking a vitamin in your diet, or you could have thyroid problems. You can make an appointment with the doctor and he can run some tests to see if you have a vitamin deficiency. good luck
They go completly bald.
lack of nutrition, mainly iron (anemia) can cause this. and yes, vegetarians and especially vegans are more prone to this. if you're having this issue, i recommend going to your doctor and having a full blood panel done. your hormones also need to be checked.
yes, they can, but it's not because of not eating meat, but rather because of not getting enough protein and essential vitamins. just be smart about it. i haven't eaten meat in 6 or 7 years and i'm doing just fine. good luck.
yes due to vitamin deficiency
Yes vegetarians can loose their hair as well as ominivors and carnivores.

Hair loss is because of increased levels of testosterone...and genetics.
No but they can suffer a break down of their Central Nervous System. Take a good vitamin B complex and veggie down. ; )
It could be possible....but more than likely it is your thyroid....low iodine....Should get that checked.
No, keratin is the substance in which people's hair and nails are made of. Keratin is a substance that can be found in several different foods, not just meat, and therefore the resource for your body to create hair is abundant. Hair loss is a gene and is hereditary.
it would not surprise me. a fast majority of vegetarians aren't as healthy as they claim to be, and hardly any of them have below average levels of body fat.
YES hair loss is a sign of Vit B12 deficiency. which is only available from animal sources. Vegetarians should take a vit b12 supplement.
I don't think there is a correlation with hair loss and protein in the diet.
no, losing your hair is typically hereditary or from something like chemotherapy
