Contacts drying out?

Question:
How do you stop contacts from drying out and getting headaches from them at the end of the day? Besides using eyedrops.
No matter what time in the morning i put them in, for some reason by 9 at night, my head hurts and they start getting dry.

Answer:
This is what you need to know. (or find out)
1. Are you in a contact lens designed for dry eyes. Some contacts require more moisture to work properly. Contacts like Acuvue Oasys are designed for dry eyes.
2. Are you using a generic soaking/disinfecting solution. Believe it or not some solutions don't work with all contact lenses. They don't tell you this, but it is true. I like Complete, or Opti-free is another good one.
3. Do you have chronic dry eyes?? If so then there is a solution. You can get Punctal Plugs. Most insurance will cover it because it is a medical condition. Basically you know the hole on your bottom inner lid(most people call it a tear duct) Well this is actually a drain for your tears, so what the Dr. does is plugs it up
It is painless, and keeps the little bit of tears you do have in your eye.
4. I would get an overnight eye moisturizer when you have your contact lenses out. You can get it in the pharmacy section. It is thick like Vaseline. Once you put it in you must go to sleep. You can not see anything with it in. It is like putting jelly in your eye, but VERY EFFECTIVE!!! For an extra kick throw it in the refrigerator so it is soothing when you out it in. Also make sure it is preservative free.

I hope this helps. good luck
This was a problem for me as well.
I started drinking more water, and blinked more often.
I actually only wear them four days a week now. My dry eyes have been a problem for years.
Doing PC work- it is too hard for my poor old eyes.

good luck
I don't think there is an alternative to eye drops.
drops are the only way to keep them lubricated, unless you switch to a different contact material that may keep them hydrated longer.
